Having sex with a person aged under 16 is prohibited and a criminal offence under the Finnish law. The protective age limit for sexual interaction in Finland is 16 years. An adult, or a young person who is much older, may not have sexual relations with a person who is under 16.
Finland. The age of consent in Finland is 16, as specified by Section 6(1) (Sexual abuse of a child), which reads: "A person who has sexual intercourse with a child younger than sixteen years of age ... shall be sentenced for sexual abuse of a child to imprisonment for at most four years."
